I’m planning to move to Ithaca in the next 12 months and have been looking online at apartments on Craigslist to get an idea of options and prices. Lately everything I’m seeing is for 2022/2023. I’m sure this has to do with the renting to students, but I was kind of shocked that people are renting spaces that won’t be available until summer of next year.
Should I be planning to secure a place that far advance? I’ve lived in other cities where the rental cycle is aligned with the university schedule, but I was usually able to find places a few months out rather than a full year in advance.
Am I right in thinking Craigslist the best place to look?
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks :)
