This would be my first tattoo and I’m wondering if this would come off as disrespectful for 2 reasons:
I know that the guy who did the Lost Cat tags died pretty recently and getting a tattoo of that so close to his death might be inappropriate? Especially since I didn’t know the dude personally.
The bigger reason of the two; I only lived in Ithaca for about 4 months. I moved in with my brother who is a bit of a nomad and his lived here for a combined 2 years or so. During that time we were both in pretty major transition points in our lives and one of the first things he showed me when I moved in with him was the Lost Cat tags around the city. I was really blown away by just how much of the city he had covered. My brother and really resonated with and bonded over the idea of being “lost cats” and I feel like it became a really good symbol for that point in our lives.
Despite the fact that I lived here for less than half a year, I absolutely fell in love with Ithaca and I hope I can move back full time someday. However, I really would not want to disrespect Lost Cat, his family or this city in any way, so any input is appreciated. Thanks!
