I started a Armadillidium colony a little bit less than a year ago. They did reproduce, but I noticed over time the adults were dying and I wasn't seeing any babies growing up to replace them.
I didn't want to disturb or stress them out, so i just let them be. I finally looked more into their enclosure today. They have a large cork hide and when I lifted it up there were quite a few dead babies, and I just don't understand why they're dying.
My enclosure is a 6 quart bin with 2 inches of substrate topped with moss and leaf litter. They've got 3 cork hides in total with eggshells and calcium sprinkled throughout. Their set up is essentially the same as my dairy cows which are thriving. The only difference I can think of is the Armadillidium bin has a really big ratio of springtails to isopods and I'm wondering if it's the springtails overwhelming the babies.
Any advice/opinions are greatly appreciated!
