Is it normal for Armadillidium to grow slow?

I have two iso colonies. One is dairy cows and the other is an assortment of Armadillidiums I took from the wild.
I feed both colonies the same food (dairies get more protein tho), but the notice that the Armadillidium babies are growing much slower. It took awhile for the adults to make babies as well. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm just being too impatient by comparing their growth relative to the dairy cows
