I began by saying that I couldnât believe in a religion which doesnât punish those who are evil and sinful, as Jews donât believe in Hell. He replied that the sinnerâs distance from God is punishment enough and that Hell was a corruption created by Muslims and Christians. That the concept of demons and devils torturing souls for eternity is a scare tactic
I understand that Muslims believe that the Scriptures have been corrupted too, and I understand that Muslims believe prophets considered to be âJewishâ historically were in fact Muslims because they submitted to God. I agree with all of that, and Iâm not saying Islam requires Judaism for validation, but I think I can at least say Judaism provided a basis for Islam
My questions are twofold: if the concept of Hell is not in Judaism, Iâm assuming itâs not in its scriptures. Is that a corruption (like it was removed)? Why would it suddenly just pop up in the Quran?
Secondly, he mentioned that Judaism was Godâs promise to the people of Israel. In other words, it sounds like an exclusive message for the Jewish people. Since Christianity and Islam are rooted in that message, would it make them null and void since it was based on a message only for the Jews?
I hope this was not too confusing or long. I also hope it does not seem if I am criticizing Islam. I am doing this research to prove Islam correct because it is the religion in which I most believe
