To anyone that's nervous or think they're a wimp, you don't need to sit for X amount of hours.

Just because you can sit for 9 hours at a time doesn't make you amazing, equally if you can't sit for more than 2 hours that doesn't make you a wimp or not worthy of a tattoo.

Some people's pain tolerances are lower than others, but equally your diet, sugars, sleep, stress, hydration all can impact on how well upu sit.

I'm 26, I started getting tattooed at 24(?). I only have 1 tattoo so far, my first and only tattoo is a chest and sleeve Japanese dragon and flowers in colour, it's not finished yet.

My artist only does 4 hour max session, but sometimes I struggle halfway through, sometimes I'm fine till the last hour, sometimes I could keep going longer.

One session, I could hardly keep it together after an hour and a bit, as that day I was super stressed. I got lost driving there, stuck in diversions, running late, wasn't hydrated well and hadn't slept well.

Just remember it's not an issue how long you can sit.

Edit -

If you know you can't handle pain, then perhaps tattooing is not for you. But as long as you're honest and upfront with an artist then they will try ans accommodate you.

There's a difference between:

Having a bad session due to circumstances as a one off

Ultimately misleading an artist by withholding your pain tolerances etc
