I know this is online experience not a real life physical experience.
I remember in this Sub we were discussing poverty and especially during the recession . I remember speaking on a comment on when I was growing up at that period there wasn't enough food and being constantly hungry . I remember some peoples reactions was that wasn't normal or that wasnt poverty because there nan didnt have running water and your just being privilege complainer. First From what i was hearing from the radio and the news that not having enough food become a common occurrence for a lot of families during the recession , a lot people were having cereal for dinner because there wasn't enough money for anything else. I know im using my memory and not a reputable source but sure other people can remember the news from the time .
And Second loads of people in rural Ireland don't have pipped running water , they use wells. And poverty in the past doesn't counteract present day poverty.
I remember during my secondary school years , I started off in a deis school . There alot more poverty and it wasnt on common for some students to have holes in their shoes including me but that was my pe shoes not school shoes. But I rememebr I move to a more middle class school and there was a lot more affluence and from the very get go alot more disposable income the students had available to themselves. And they definitely saw me as less now in retrospect for not having a comparable means( coming from a family with a good income/wealth). It wasnt everyone but it wasn't uncommon and it was pervasive.
Edit : The point i should expressed better: is that during the recession some people one day were living of life of exorbitance being middle class or above because of the boom but then next week they were in the bogs life was horrible , there were in the pits , in the bottom of poverty.
TLDR Anyway the point of the post is why are some people uncomfortable with others coming from poverty or experiencing a streak of financial insecurity.
