Just thought I’d share this in case some will or is about to fall prey to these scammers.
I was selling something on Adverts and DoneDeals, and started getting DoneDeals requests from scammers, all try the same plot.
Did a lot of research about my product and asked many questions, then negotiated on the price to give it just this extra bit of credibility. Said they live far from me and would like to get the product shipped to them with the postage covered.
When all was set, they said they paid using AnPost which isn’t technically possible and is warned against by both AnPost and DoneDeals. The link they sent is very realistic though and even included the fake address they provided.
Don’t open the link just for safety, and if you do, definitely don’t add your bank/card info to receive the payments.
I thought this is standard knowledge and internet safety. But, I have met two people who told me they fell prey to this when I mentioned my story.
