Hey folks,
Looking for some advice. Me and my roommate are being threatened with eviction due to apparently smoking in the apartment(against the rules for the building), and breaking a common area door, which we didnât.
The door bit is solved now and we arenât being directly blamed for it, but they claim to have evidence of us smoking in the apartment. I canât see where theyâd get the evidence, all of our roommates claim to have said nothing. Whether they actually do have evidence iâm not sure.
In a recent email they said they were certain âpeople were smoking in the apartmentâ, not us directly, and said if we know of other tenants smoking in the apartment, to tell them.
Is it realistic to try to get somewhat of a second chance and dodge the eviction, since the door wasnât even our doing, which they now know, but the smoking is hard to rule.
sidenote: I do have evidence of another tenant smoking, who apparently is the one who told the landlord about the smoking, even though she does it herself. If worst came to worst, could I dodge the eviction in any way? Weâre only 1st year college students in a college accommodation.
