Ipod Shuffle Help

I have an Ipod shuffle that I have been using to swim with for years (waterproof case). Recently it started only loading one item (song/podcast/audiobook) regardless of how many are synced to load on itunes. Everything looks good on itunes, and I can watch the progress bar "load" everything its supposed to, but then there is only one item on the shuffle. I've searched the boards and cant find anyone who has had a similar experience. Any help is appreciated.
