iPhone storage was full & pictures disappeared after update.

My phone was warning me that storage was starting to become full so I started to delete apps to free up space. My iCloud storage is 2 TB but my phone storage is only 64 GB. I was aware that my Photos were taking up a lot of space.

My phone updated overnight & I just realized that all of my pictures on my phone disappeared. It’s still on my iCloud but why were they removed from my phone? I only have pictures/videos from May until to now. I been trying to recover for the last hour but there is no progress. It keeps saying that it’s “updating” in my gallery. I have about 30,000 pictures/videos on my iCloud. Is this why it is taking long to recover?

Please help! How do I get my iCloud back on my phone? 😩
