Recovered some deleted photos and not all of them

Using a third party pc app I was able to recover some of the photos/videos I deleted over the years I need to understand how it was able to find them in first place since they’re not backed up or anything like that is there like a temporary cache file holders that can store years old of media iPhone 11 (IOS 16)
