I haven't opened the app in over a year, so there's no way I've clicked on it accidentally; it's tucked away in a folder that I don't touch much.
This morning after I unlocked my phone, the phone insisted I re-enter my country and phone number; it absolutely looked like an iPhone thing, the sort of screen you get when initially going through the setup process. I couldn't get past this screen until I re-entered my number, there was no 'cancel', delete didn't work, nothing.
Then I got this.
I have access to my phone back, I start looking around, then a push notification appears at the top of my screen, something like 'WhatApp, we're sorry you didn't get your confirmation code...' - I didn't open it. This was within about 60 seconds.
Open WhatApp and this is there.
Clearly I didn't click on the link and I'm uninstalling the app now - I've never liked it, I find Telegram to be far superior.
So yeah, WhatsApp somehow hijacked my phone, which is not a jailbroken iPhone. To what purpose, I do not know, as I won't be clicking the link or entering the code they texted me.
