Soooo when I upgraded to my iPhone 16 Pro from my 15 Pro on launch day at the Apple Store via the iPhone Upgrade Program, they marked my 15 Pro as traded in but told me I’d get a box to ship it back, turns out they were supposed to collect my 15 Pro in store but I’m still in possession of it, the Citizens One loan was closed and zeroed out, it’s marked as traded in on my Apple Store app, and it’s not activation locked. My question is what’s going to happen to it, I’d imagine once someone figures out the phone is missing, it’ll get activation locked / bricked but I’m wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else. I tried doing the right thing taking it back to the Apple Store (40 miles one way away) / contacting support but they said they couldn’t take it since their system shows it was already traded in and inspected / collected!
