This is so effed up and I’ve spent HOURS on the phone with Apple text specialists. I’m literally “lose” dozens of text messages every month and the more time that passes the more they disappear (my settings are set to archive “forever”). I think I have a dozen texts from 2017. For perspective, like a lot of people, I get a dozen texts a day before it’s even noon. It’s a joke. But it’s actually caused me harm in business and in relationships when I’ve been asked to “prove” something and I know just the text I need to settle the matter. Of course it isn’t there. It would be funny if it wasn’t so effen tragic. Every goddamn time I need a text, it ain’t there. This isn’t even a help-me text, it’s just a cautionary tale of never —and I mean never—trust technology.
