Two studies currently show all of the positive sleep changes from using “Night Shift” Mode on iOS or Androids equivalent, are simply a placebo from THINKING “Night Shift” mode helps you sleep. The studies actually showed between two different participating groups of males and females between two separate trials, that the iOS’s “Night Shift” mode had little to no effect on most of its users trying to fall asleep for the simple fact that most of us forget to turn down our screens brightness to the lowest, most comfortable setting possible at bedtime. The study showed that if a lowered (preferably the lowest setting possible) brightness COMBINED with “Night Shift” mode is used in tangent with each other; Than, AND ONLY THAN, did it show to have a NOTICEABLY POSITIVE impact on melotonin production in the brain and body at bedtime. The study found that not using “Night Shift” mode at all or using the mode with a high screen luminosity (brightness) essentially were causing the same NEGATIVE EFFECTS on the production of melatonin in the brain/body.
TL;DR - Two Clinical Studies find that smart devices “Night Shift” modes are ineffective if used with a high screen brightness over a lowered screen brightness.
