DSP problems
Post Body

Hello! I just purchased my first Ipad ever, the 128G 2020 model.

I read they're great for music production, software & recording hardware.

I have multiple instruments hooked into a focusrite, and got a few softsynths set up with a midi in through the focusrite so I can play them according to their destined midi channel.

I realized just 3 hours into buying apps and setting everything up that the DSP was already at 70%-80% without effects, without recording, and without a few extra things I was planning to do simultaneously.

Does the iPad really chug that hard or am I hitting the limit fairly quick? I don't know if it's just not using it's full capabiy, or if I'm over loading it.

My question is.. Now that I watched a lot of videos about setting everything up, I see everyone uses an Ipad Pro. -.- does it really make that much of a performance difference, or am I just generally wishing too much out of this tablet?

Those who have had both, can you give me some insight to if I should just cave and resell the 2020 ipad & get a pro or air? Or if I'm just being nit-pick about it.

For the record I never considered the Pro a purchasable option since I'm in the Scandinavian area. I will be going back to the states after winter and wouldn't be purchasing the pro until I'm there.

TL:DR Is the pro a better option than the 2020 128 G performance wise for DSP usage?
