So I've just got a new car with CarPlay (yay) and I'vereally enjoyed using it, its such a step up being able to easily navigate the music app/wave on the screen, and talk to Siri, rather than haphazardly poke my phone with my finger between steering/changing gear, and yelling so Siri can hear me.
But! (there's always a but) I noticed something interesting today. If you have Music Streaming turned off while using mobile data (I get 4GB a month) Siri cant play a specific song, playlists? No worry, but if I want to play "Supermassive Black Hole" Siri comes back with "Looks like you're not on Wifi, you can change this in the settings app" even though said song is in my library, downloaded.
It seems a bit stupid that if you have streaming turned off, Siri cant operate your music library at all (save for playlists), rather than just be limited to your local library and come back with "Sorry, that song isn't downloaded" if you ask for a song you don't have on your phone.
Furthermore, if I turn streaming on, then ask for a song (Let's say Bohemian Rhapsody), Siri/iOS decides to stream it from an album I don't have downloaded, rather than opting to save my data and play the local version. I cant help thinking what happens if you don't have Apple Music and try this, as streaming wouldn't be an option.
