Since updating to iOS 18 (and also causing issues when later upgrading to 18.1), if I get a message on any app (Messages, Instagram, Messenger etc.) and I open and read the message, it will still appear on my Home Screen when a new message comes.

Say I get a message at 1030 and I read and respond to it and then lock my phone. I then get a new message from the same person at 1100, on my lock screen it will now show the message from 1030 and the new message even though I’ve read the first message.

It’s quite frustrating having to manually clear every message from the home screen to avoid old messages appearing.

Has anyone experienced this or know of a fix?
