How to shut down an app and keep it that way?

Post Body
I recently moved from android to ios, and i am having a hard time shutting down apps that i dont need to be running in the background and refreshing all the time. For example, on android, i could force shutdown Webex and Outlook outside of work hours, and those apps would not turn on again until i opened them. Is there any similar feature in ios to shutdown those apps, i dont want to be bugged by work messages and emails after my hours are done for the day.
