[iPhone 8] Microphone works for Siri voice recognition, but for nothing else

Recently I realised my iPhone 8's microphone stopped working. I can't answer phone calls, send audio messages, record videos with audio, etc.
However, Siri still turns on when I say "Hey Siri", and when I dictate commands (ie "open notes") it follows them.
My phone is updated to the latest iOS version, but I feel like surely it's got something to do with the software since the mic works for Siri.
Has anybody had the same issue/knows what's going on? Thank you!
