Ionic native network plugin not detecting online/offline change

Is anyone else having issues with the native network plugin not working? I have followed the code example from the docs and had the same code working in the old V3 version of my app perfectly. I upgraded it to V4 and now have issues.
I've googled the crap out of it and come up blank.
