I'm a new investor with mostly ETF holdings. I'd like to start tracking/watching stocks from emerging technology companies, specifically ones involved in some of the more speculative sci-fi-esque areas. I'm thinking driverless vehicles, Google's Project Glass, UAVs (drones), AI, private space flight, etc.
I'm having a hard time thinking of the tangental companies that would benefit from each of the areas taking off (like LIDAR systems, which driverless cars and drones need). How do I go about researching the vendors that are actually making the parts and systems that say, Project Glass, is using? Are there any publicly traded companies that make UAVs? I haven't been able find any.
How do you go about finding stocks like this? Any help is appreciated!
