I generally have little interest in reading manga and much prefer watching anime. Yashahime has re-ignited my Inuyasha obsession and I started to rewatch but I actually just finished the entire show for the first time last year so it's too fresh in my mind. But reading the manga I do pick up on the subtle differences. I've seen a lot of comments on here that Inuyasha's and Kagome's relationship was better in the manga and you guys were totally right! I'm only on chapter 177 so far, right after the part where Inuyasha "chose Kikyo" but Kagome decided to stay with Inuyasha anyway.
So far the biggest difference that bothered me was the part where everyone was caught in the vines that makes you relive your greatest fears (I wanna say it was called death snare). Inuyasha, of course, was reliving being sealed to the tree with Kikyo's arrow. In the manga, his train of thought leads him to Kagome and he realizes, on his own, that it's a trap. In the anime, it seemed like he was given a hint that he was supposed to be protecting someone else. And he's basically like, "Oh snap! Kagome! Forgot about her." Also in the manga, after he saves Kagome, she asks him about his thoughts of Kikyo. And he tells her that his thoughts of her(Kagome) were what saved him. That part was completely taken out of the anime!
Also, it seems like it's more established that they are in a romantic relationship. There's always the frustrating theme where it's obvious two people like each other but they deny it. Which is totally true in the anime. But in the manga, it seems they've stopped denying it and it's obvious the reason they're not together is Kikyo. It's more of a realistic prevention instead of a constant denial that just goes on way too long.
