"Why are you so quiet?"

I mind my own business and stay hush unless I'm with friends. A while ago I didn't have any friends at school so that meant I was dead silent outside of the teacher asking things. A few peeps would come up and say "why are you so quiet?".
How do you guys respond to this? It's so annoying lol. I just said, "Just cause".
