Coping at family gatherings

Post Body

What do you all do at extended family gatherings? I find these events to be an awful combination of exhausting and boring. I feel like I’d be happier if I was doing something—like how some people just bring their knitting everywhere. Something that allows people to still talk to you but gives you more of a sense of purpose to just sit quietly for a bit. I’m not a great knitter though. Anyone have anything they do at gatherings that helps?
