How Do You Deal with a Missing Stair in a Career?

Post Body

Long story short, stumbled into a job in the securities industry (one of the two options for careers), licensed, and the next step is to become an analyst (if I can prove myself). This would be great as I would not have to talk to as many people and I could deal with the risk aspect of the business. But after that I am not sure where to go after that. I could go to a bigger city, but the prospect for most American cities is iffy for me. I could also transfer overseas, but I fear I am punching above my weight. I could also to to go for a general Business Analyst position, but again would likely move and I don't have a design in mind for how I climb the hierarchy. I also checked on the licenses aspect and the best thing I could see at least on Indeed was compliance oriented.

Have any of you landed in an analyst position? How did you work your way up after that? I am also in the back office so it is not like I can do deals or anything like that. Thanks.
