Maintaining passion in subjects

Post Body

My experience with hobbies has mostly consisted of short bursts of extreme focus and passion for the subject. This often manifests as long consecutive hours spent plowing through information on the subject, typically writing it down, but only lasts for a few days to several weeks; beyond that, I lose virtually all motivation to continue working on the subject. As far as I understand it, this is because the dopamine rush happens in the period of intense work, but does not occur afterwards.

My first question is: does anyone else share a similar experience? Iā€™m curious to know if this is common among INTJs. Secondly, I would like to ask if anyone knows of ways to extend the periods of interest in the subjects, as I would like to sustain long-term hobbies.

Thank you for your time.
