I have been seeing some scary things over the past 10 years in the US. After 2008 the US seemed to loose it's soul (part could be due to funding, the other could be due to a cultural shift). Further FISA, the Patriot Act, FOSTA, the wars, the huge deficit, the talk of banning encryption, and the talk of suspending Habeas Corpus is scary shit. I think the irrational handling of this crisis pushed me over the edge. I get other countries have their issues, but at least it seems like things are not as bureaucratic and ironically have "freer markets", even though they may be "socialist".
I have traveled to about 5 countries and have thought of the ideal of "living abroad", but more as a luxury not as a necessity. However now with all the aforementioned things as well as desecration of the Constitution I have been thinking of moving to another first world country. I have set my eyes on Canada as it seems like out of all the Anglo countries it is the most live and let live outside some states (even those states seem a bit authoritarian). Further I am on the autistic spectrum so I feel a bit out of place. The only things that sticks out to me as laws I don't like are hate crime laws (I am not racist, but as a matter of principle I support free speech), slightly higher taxes (not the end of the world), as well slightly stricter gun laws (although there is no NFA fees and weed and guns can play well). I am wondering if Canada would be a better fit as I want to live and let live but the US seems like the opposite of that. Are there any INTJs with experience leaving the US or living in Canada? Thanks.
