I have been reading a bit and realized many things in my spiritual system made sense not only in a oh yeah that is right, but also in the principles sense. The issue was not spiritual vs being rational, but of being real with yourself and examining yourself. As I have gotten older I have realized my issue was not with spirituality itself, but not examining it and accepting the status quo, even if it rotted away at people's souls. This is not a you need Jesus/whatever, but that if we abandon aesthetics, spirituality, and other larger ideas, we are just ants carrying our food back to the next, instead of realizing the beauty within, the creative and our larger story as humans. I don't know how else to explain things but I just have been realizing the larger dangers of focusing on the physical (materialism).
