I had a brief, preliminary zoom interview this morning. I read some tips on this subreddit yesterday and my main take aways were-
- Don't downplay yourself. Be confident and proud of your accomplishments.
This worked so well - I shared my accomplishments enthusiastically and translated all of them into how they apply to the job. I could tell my enthusiasm was infectious for the interviewer.
- Come in confident.
This impacted the care I took in my appearance, the setting I put myself in to take the video call, and my choice to wear a full sized headset to be confident my sound was excellent.
- Prepare stories and things you'd like to highlight.
I had a very quickly compiled list in front of me of a few stories and points of experience I wanted to share. I tailored it to the job, and was able to answer questions without too much thought, if I began to lose focus, I was able to reference my notes and stay confident and on track.
I have a full interview next week. I'll do these same preparations in more depth over the next week. Hope I get it!
