I was let go from my company yesterday, due to violating a company policy against time reporting...I can't believe under submitting my hours jeopardized my career but to be fair it's a policy I sign yearly and I screwed up.
Here's the thing, I was at that company for 8 years. I knew I was being investigated so I started applying immediately. I am already in the process of getting another job, actually have 3 going on right now in various stages of initial interview, being submitted to client, etc.
What do I do? At this point do I just email all 3 and say straight up I'm now unemployed because I got fired? I have excellent references from my previous position. I need to get back to work sooner rather than later. It's the kids spring break this week so I can be with family and keep my mind off it some.
How do I handle the firing? Should I just say I'm available immediately? My previous employer said all they would do for a reference is verify my position title and dates of employment, so they'll know I'm not actively working when checking.
