CW: surgery
Hey all! I'm 90% sure I'm intersex but I haven't found anyone with the experience I've had and I want to know more. I had surgery that was coded as being for a double inguinal hernia at two weeks old. Reviewing medical literature, this seems common for intersex folks, but all the lit I could find on it was talking about for folks that were being assigned female. I was assigned male, and (to the best of my knowledge) have always had a penis that externally appears normative. I looked very femme growing up, and frequently had to argue that I was a boy to people who refused to believe it. Delicate features, small breast buds when I got older, etc. I started taking estrogen at 17 thinking I was a trans woman, and my breasts grew incredibly quickly (I'm now a D cup). Finally, I realized that my inguinal canals were FAR larger than made sense, and remembered growing up occasionally going to the hospital to see what was happening because my testes would ascend back into the canals for extended periods of time (they told me to stop eating spicy food, yaaay giving anti-masturbation rhetoric to an 11 year old). Anyhow, now that I've shared lots about my body, does this sound familiar to anyone? Where can I get more info?
