so i was wondering if anyone here has had problems when applying for apartments to live with their SO. i’m a BF with a WM and we have been looking for a place to live since last october. when i would apply for places i would get prompt replies and invites to tour the home. this would also happen with my boyfriend. but the minute we show up for the walk through we stop hearing from the owner/landlord. we both have steady jobs with big well known companies that we’ve had for years and make enough money for the requested 3x amount in rent. i also have a serving job at a high end restaurant so money is not an issue. the first few times we thought it was because of money or because at the time we had only been together for a short amount of time and they were wary we would break up. but then began noticing it just continued to happening DIRECTLY AFTER we went for a showing.

background: we do live in eastern pa maybe an hour outside of philadelphia. if you know anything about pa, big cities are pretty inclusive, outside of it it’s confederate flags (why you ask?? bc pa people are stupid and think we were part of the confederacy) and soft core racism (wow you’re so pretty for a black girl, casually following me around stores to make sure i’m not stealing, staring at me and my boyfriend getting daggers as we walk around minding our own business and vibing etc)
