My bf and I are 23yrs old. I’m white (Métis idk if it matters) he’s black (Jamaican idk if that matters). His mom likes to braid my hair and I have extremely thick curly hair so it takes a lot of stress and weight away when she does it, but someone at work has made comments (who is white) saying that it is wrong they’ve made comments latest one is“but you’re not black” then visibly gets upset and offended. I’m not sure what to do as I love when she does it but I’m worried that I am in the wrong. I honestly feel like if it was wrong she wouldn’t be asking to do it but I want to ask other peoples opinions because if it is wrong then I won’t do it anymore to be respectful.

Update: most of my coworkers at work like it and want my hair in my employee picture which was pretty cool but there’s a couple that don’t like it especially one specific one (he’s white) and called me a wig**r and laughed like it was the funniest thing. Idk what to do I’ve never felt the way I did in that moment before everyone thinks he’s a dick and idk what to do now. Never even heard of the term until then
