My bf and I are 23yrs old. Iām white (MĆ©tis idk if it matters) heās black (Jamaican idk if that matters). His mom likes to braid my hair and I have extremely thick curly hair so it takes a lot of stress and weight away when she does it, but someone at work has made comments (who is white) saying that it is wrong theyāve made comments latest one isābut youāre not blackā then visibly gets upset and offended. Iām not sure what to do as I love when she does it but Iām worried that I am in the wrong. I honestly feel like if it was wrong she wouldnāt be asking to do it but I want to ask other peoples opinions because if it is wrong then I wonāt do it anymore to be respectful.
Update: most of my coworkers at work like it and want my hair in my employee picture which was pretty cool but thereās a couple that donāt like it especially one specific one (heās white) and called me a wig**r and laughed like it was the funniest thing. Idk what to do Iāve never felt the way I did in that moment before everyone thinks heās a dick and idk what to do now. Never even heard of the term until then
