Mom/Dad, how do I budget for bills? is it okay to pay early? should I get a credit card? help please!!
Post Body

Hi, mom. Hi, dad.

I have never had to really budget before because I've been trapped in a financially abusive situation most of my life. I know basically nothing for finances.

Now, I've got disability coming in and I have two bills that will be three next month when I pay for my car insurance, but I'm wondering. I currently pay for my phone bill and my dog's pet insurance. I plan to wait until I get my back pay to get car insurance and that will be at the beginning of this coming month. I've already paid the registration and put in for a title transfer.

But, I have questions!! So many questions!!

I know I'm supposed to build credit, but I'm scared of getting a credit card due to having a disability where manic spending is a symptom. Should I still get one? I heard using one for paying bills is a good idea??

I once heard you shouldn't pay your bills early and that you shouldn't pay the full amount. Is that just with credit cards?

Due to none of them being for credit cards, is it okay to pay the bills early? Is it better to wait? Only one gives me a $10 discount for doing auto-pay.

I barely drive as I use medical transportation to all my apps and have been walking my dog instead of going to the dog park, so how do I budget for gas?

Most importantly, my bank has been paying me early (but not a certain amount of days every time) for disability. How should I budget when I don't know if I'll be getting money early?

Please help. I'm struggling.
