How do you recommend a book/ video to someone without them going into a rage?
Post Body

Hi parents,

I'm not sure this is the place to ask so please remove the post if it isn't.

So...

Recently, I have found myself in many arguments related to social/current issues such as racism, equality, climate change, etc. (Probably due to the fact I moved to a conservative city). Generally, I tried my best to give reasons why I support/ don't support an idea but some issues are personal to me, as someone I know is currently being affected or was affected by it, so I recommend a book/
YouTube videos/ journals that go in-depth about the issues, stating that I have bias toward this topic. Or when I think the material can explain it better than me because the author is more qualified.

But many people take it as an insult of some sort and saying stuff like how dare you or just walk away from the conversation angrily. I'm honestly baffled and a bit terrifying, to the point I have been trying to avoid those conversations and keep it to myself. I know these situations will happen again so I'm seeking a better way to handle this.

Thank you!
