Hi parents, I can’t ask my real mom, because my family is notorious for letting cats just be taken out to the country, and I don’t think that’s the right thing to do. Last month, my friend was gardening and found a cat that was missing fur and looked like she needed to go to the vet. The cat had been around her trailer park for a while, and her friend had seen her hiding under the trailers a lot. She was extremely hungry, and walked straight into the kennel when food was offered, and my friend brought her to my house.
I showered the new kitty with toys, a bed and lots of affection. I made an appointment with the vet. She thought the cat was stressed and pulling her hair out. She had a microchip, and her name is Luna. They contacted the owners on the chip, but they said that they had given Luna away a few months after she was chipped. The vet cleared her to be around the other cats, and said to keep an eye on the chewing. We put up flyers and a friend posted on Facebook that we found the cat.
We were very slow introducing her to our cats, but she hates them. We used the Jackson Galaxy method, and were as slow as possibly. We tried pulling back and introducing again, but it isn’t working. Luna hates our kitten.
I don’t know what the right thing to do is now. I can’t take her back to the trailer park without it weighing on my conscience. And she is 6 so I’m afraid to take her to a shelter and she be put down. She has her own room in my very large walk in closet, and we let her into the bedroom while the other cats roam the house, but I feel like this isn’t fair to her. I don’t have social media though, and I don’t want to seem like a pet dumper, but I’m at a loss of the right thing to do.
