Post Body

Title sums it up. I do live with my parents, but pay for all my bills/rent/car and all my living expenses. However, my mother, has to know what is going on with me at all times. If I drive to work, she wants a text to know I made it safe. If I go get dinner with a friend, she wants a text. If it takes me longer to get somewhere than expected, sheā€™ll start sending texts asking, ā€œtraffic bad? Everything okay?ā€.

I feel smothered to the max.

Hereā€™s my current dilemma: I have a weekend trip planned with my girlfriendā€”this weekendā€”and havenā€™t told my parents. I know thereā€™s going to be backlash because being alone with a girl is bad! But I want to tell her since Iā€™ll be gone for three days. I guess Iā€™m not sure how to approach it. Sheā€™s going to ask a million questions, get frantic and then blow up my phone the entire time Iā€™m gone.

How do I transition from ā€œaskingā€ for permission to just doing what I want?
