What to do with awkward space at top of stairs?

What could I do with this space at the top of stairs? The slanted ceiling makes it too much of a crawl space to be a reading nook or something you could sit in. The old owners used it as a kids play area but I don’t have kids and don’t want it just to be empty. How can I design it into something good looking and potentially usable?

Love that little tent space. Looks like an ideal spot for a pet kind of out-of-the-way but still close enough to the stairs and it looks like the front door.
