DC is still around but is more confusing than ever. You can connect to many hubs that only work if you are registered, but that offer no means registration. you can spend hours downloading a file from someone only to find out that its the unfinished version of that file that they were downloading from someone else still. And the client has become like linux, too many variations, none of which offer what you are looking for.
Still got me a bunch of stuff i couldn't get anywhere else though :3
