Post Body

Hello all.

I recently tried to sell my old i5-4460, that I didn't use in 2 years, along with the Z97 motherboard I used up until 2 months ago with another CPU.

When testing though, the system only reached POST when RAM was installed in a particular slot (3rd from the socket), but anytime there was RAM in any other slot it didn't POST, even with sticks previously working in slot #3.

I no longer have any DDR3 on hand to further test with, unfortunately.

So, what are the chances that the old i5 is somehow malfunctioning, and what are the chances that the board is toast ?
