It took me to my 4th time through to really notice, but as Riley is coming out of her anxiety attack, she does three things. She breathes deeply, she touches the bench she's sitting on, and the ambient sounds of the rink are amplified. These are "grounding" or "self-soothing" techniques to help you stay "present", or not be carried away with anxious, spiralling thoughts (catastrophising) and anxiety episodes among other situations. Focusing on your breathing (deep breaths and counting), paying deliberate attention to your surrounds (what you can feel, the texture, temperature of what you can touch) and what you can hear (identifying specific sounds and listing them). This helps you to remember where you are and to focus on the here and now and to put the anxious thoughts into perspective. I'm sure all my anxious brothers and sisters here know these techniques, but I was just so excited to see these on display in this moment in this movie
