But what if IO3 goes the other way?

Hey everyone. We've all seen a lot of discussion and speculation about IO3, specifically what new emotions may be added. But, what if IO3 goes the other way?

We know from IO that the adults only have the original 5 present and in control. We do see Anxiety in both parents' heads at the end of IO2, but they aren't a part of the main panel. I think we can deduce from this that there will be a point in Riley's life where her emotions begin to revert and simplify again, and the 4 new emotions return to whatever green room they've been living in for Riley's first 13 years.

So what if IO3, like Toy Story 3, jumps forward a bit time wise to Riley at, say, 18, or even 21. She's grown up. She's emotionally healthy, she's managing her anxiety and doesn't feel the pangs of envy, embarrassment and boredom she did as a teen, sothe new emotions gradually realise their job is done, and they leave headquarters. They don't disappear like Bing Bong or anything, because we can deduce they still exist, just don't have as much control as they used to.

Of course there needs to be some sort of growing up story for Riley that the emotions need to experience and learn from, otherwise there's no movie. But maybe that's it. She's coming into her own as a young adult. Maybe through some tragedy (we know how Disney love to kill off parents, but I don't think that will be it) she will need to do some therapy, which will gradually render certain emotions redundant in her everyday life, but not before she lashes out, maybe goes through the stages of grief, which would appeal to the various emotions in different ways (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance).

I just think knowing what we know through out views of the parents' heads that more emotions isn't necessarily the way forward for IO3.

Anyway, thoughts?
