On my son's sixth birthday my mom wanted to see if he got the book about Easter she sent him. He told her he did, but that he doesn't believe in God or Jesus. He went on to tell her that the only god he believes in is Zeus. I knew this conversation was coming, and knew I didn't want to have it. My favorite part is the bible verse she trotted out like it was some mic drop moment. "Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Yeah, I think I have that one under control, Mom.
Your mom is insane. Religious indoctrination is abuse. I’m proud of your son for coming to his own conclusions. Zeus is pretty rad. Keep doing what you’re doing, you are your son’s best ally (along with his mom).
