Help! I have been living with my fiancé for roughly six months and his mom essentially lives in between her son’s homes and goes on extended camping trips. She mostly keeps to herself but is extremely erratic and probably has undiagnosed autism/adhd combo. She’s got a few issues that have made her presence in the home difficult.

-she hoards stray cats. My fiancé and I have two dogs and one cat we claim responsibility for. I have another cat but this environment is too stressful for him because of the constant incoming of cats. She does vet them but doesn’t always succeed in rehoming them. They all end up here on the property we stay at.

-she has very specific dietary preferences that take up most of the room in our fridge (2 door fridge one side freezer and the other fridge) there are 4 of us in the home at all times(2 kids) and the majority of the food she purchases goes bad due to not being stored properly or eaten in a timely manner. It’s mostly fruits and vegetables and the freezer is full of vegetarian meat substitutes. We hardly have any room to do a big grocery run.

These are really the only two problems that I have with her. I’ve had shit luck with in-laws and don’t want to be causing unnecessary problems because of these issues.

She does help with power and some of the other bills but I’m just trying to figure out a solution to the problems mentioned above. My fiancé and her don’t really get along very well and it’s hit or miss depending on the day of the week.
