Pushy, know it all, in laws!
Post Body

I'm so mad! Went to go visit my in laws last night with my 5 month old and immediately when I got there FIL picked her up and she started screaming and crying a ton. I kept telling him to give her to me because something was wrong and him and MIL told me I NEED to learn to let her cry it out and self soothe and that I can't be the only one she calms down with. I'm her mother so damn right she can be soothed by me and no I don't need to do anything I don't want to with my child. She is also very well socialized and rarely ever just cries for no reason.

Finally I got her back and low and behold she was so upset because she had pooped on the car ride over and was sitting in it so long that she got blisters. I'm glad I followed my gut and didn't just let them convince me what I needed to do with MY child.

Does anyone else have any similar stories with pushy in laws?

Edit: For some info my husband is in another state doing military training and I'm moving next week to where he is at.

I was mainly venting, but thank you guys for the advice. I do not understand the older thought process with crying it out and making a big deal about them being soothed by their mothers. Makes no sense.

I’ll never understand people keeping the baby from the mother when the mother ASKS for THEIR baby back. It’s so disrespectful!
