Post Body

so hi everyone, new member to the sub because I thought you guys might be able to shed some insight on this issue I've been struggling with for a few years now.

A little over two years ago I was prescribed testosterone replacement therapy from my GP after testing my levels and finding out that I was obscenely low due to eight years of being on Suboxone and it not only destroying my teeth but also decimating my body is natural production of testosterone. In the beginning, I had to inject over one mL, and 2 milliliter syringes are a few and far between, so of course I used the most readily available and closest thing to it, which just so happened to be BD Integra syringes... 3 mL barrel and of course multiple different needle gauges and length that could be attached to it… But here's the catch. It was absolutely impossible in every way for me to locate any sort of needles for the syringe, whether they were sharpened for injection or merely blunt fill needles for poking through the rubber stopper of a vile and drawing up the medication into the syringe and then swapping out for a sharp injection needle so that you don't stick the needle that you want to inject yourself with through a thick rubber stopper and absolutely dull the shit out of it in the process, which sadly way more ignorant people do all the time which absolutely blows my mind.

Back to the matter at hand, luckily Integra syringes usually come with their own injection needle, but as for the blunt fill needle… Well you're pretty much on your own. I asked my doctor numerous times to source and order these and it was always either he couldn't figure out how or they misinterpreted this SKU number or sent the wrong product. And I finally got sick of it. So I did what any enterprising citizen would do and contacted the Lykes of Becton Dickinson themselves through email. To my amazement and pleasant surprise, I didn't wait too long to receive a package in the mail with a very thoughtfully typed out letter from their head of product management and patient relations apologizing for all the trouble I had had in procuring the product they manufactured that I required, and supplied me with a box of 100 of them as a courtesy free of charge. This is why I will only use BD injection products no matter what for the rest of my life but that's beside the point. I still haven't been able to figure out why this particular product with the SKU number that is valid is so incredibly difficult for doctors to order or for suppliers to get or ship. The main reason behind all this is that all the needles that attached to an Integra syringe have to be designed a certain way because they're meant to retract after you are finished with your injection and push the plunger past at stopping point triggering the spring release mechanism. The hub itself or the threads where it connects to the barrel of the syringe are not your standard Luer-Lok as most syringes make use of...they are BD's own design and patent threaded connection called "Tru-Lok". this means that any other universal, standard needle or attachment you try to attach to the end of an Integra syringe will simply not mate with the threads on the barrel.

If anyone can shed any light on the subject and possibly help me with understanding why this is so difficult and maybe even assisting in procuring these products from Becton Dickinson themselves, I would be truly more than grateful.
