I just found out from a mutual friend of mine that a close friend of mine (Entp) are grabbing dinner with this weekend is also back in the area to record an album is calling it quits after about 20 albums and 15 years of playing and will be switching to painting. So they’ll no longer be touring in bands or mixing albums. They were kind of somebody I looked up to in that way because they kept being able to be disciplined and find people in their genre to record and tour in bands. Now we both play different styles mind which are more common for music majors, bassists or virtuoso guitarists while their style was like very psychedelic and punk. I suppose what I’m getting at here is when do you know you still have gas/room for passion, discipline and inspiration? I myself only have released maybe a dozen songs give or take in the past decade most of which aren’t finished. But I try to stay motivated by taking lessons with teachers since I don’t really play in a band or go to college for it. What keeps you fueled for things that define you?
