So I was set on a 2019 Toyota Avalon Hybrid for a few months. I'm coming from a 2010 Mercedes GLK 220 CDI that I bought new but have vowed never to drive a diesel or German car again. Maintenance costs are through the roof and the ride is rough and stinky.
I'm in South Korea so not a lot of options here and cars even Hyundai and KIA are more expensive. Wasn't completely satisfied with the Avalon but was probably the best choice. Was leaning towards the new ES which is essentially the same car but 13k more.
Until I saw the QX50. Test drove it today, fell in love, and signed the contract. It's easy for my kids to climb in as it's low, great back seat room, and it's oh so buttery smooth. Cancelled the Toyota contract as the Avalon was going to ship in August and I just sold the Benz. Would've had to get a rental for a few months but now I could start driving the Infiniti this week.
I think made the right choice. One concern I did have was some complaints about fuel smell. Did any QX owners here have that issue? My son complains about the smell of diesel which is one of the main reasons we are changing cars.
The cost of the Avalon Hybrid XLE (only model they sell here) and the QX50 Essential with leather and pano roof are almost exactly the same.
Can't wait!
